The Bulgarian border authorities detained 41 illegal migrants at Kulata border crossing on 2nd of March. They were found after a check with X-ray. The migrants were hidden in the cargo compartment of a lorry carrying Chinese goods from Greece to Romania. 29 men, 5 women and 7 children were found among the boxes. The detainees are in good health.
Vessela Stoilova, spokesperson of Blagoevgrad Regional Prosecutor's Office said that according to initial information, the citizens are from Syria and Iraq. There are children in the group. The identity of the detained is being established at present, she added. The driver (a Romanian citizen) of the lorry in which the persons were found was detained for 24 hours under the law on the Ministry of Interior.
