47 new coronavirus cases reported in Bulgaria, 3 more deaths, including a doctor

Forty seven new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria for the past 24 hours from a total of 1126 tests, the national task force said on May 2. The total cases now are 1588.

1232 are the active cases. The district of Razdgrad reported its first case of the infection.

Five new cases of children between the age of 9 and 16 were reported.

Three people diagnosed with Covid-19 died in the past 24 hours, including a 43 doctor from Sliven. She worked in the intensive care unit of the hospital. The illness developed very quickly, she was in very serious condition and intubated.

Four new cases of medical professionals were registered. Three of them work in Pirogov emergency hospital in Sofia and one is in the city of Pleven.

Three major scenarios for the development of the coronavirus have been published today by the international scientific community.

Scenario 1 - a series of recurring small waves that will also occur in the summer, sequentially for up to two years and an expected downward trend in 2021.

Scenario 2 - a larger wave in the fall and winter of 2020 and a subsequent one or more smaller waves in 2021.

Scenario 3 - the so-called "slow burning of the causative agent", current transmission, occurrence of individual cases, but without a clearly expressed wave pattern.

Regardless of the scenario, it is expected that between 18 and 24 months there will be significant activity of the coronavirus infection.

Assoc. Prof. Dimo Dimov: These conclusions suggest that societies and countries need to adapt and take measures that can strike a balance between anti-epidemic measures and, of course, the recovery of economic and social life.

In this regard, In Bulgaria, we are following the trend of gradual relaxation of the restrictive measures, anti-epidemic measures, and it will be analyzed in the next days whether these measures have the necessary effect, whether in a positive or negative direction and at the same time ease or a return to some of the measures, he added.
