The new coronavirus cases confirmed in Bulgaria for the past 24 hours are 53, thus bringing the total to 1,541, the national task force said in its morning briefing on May 1.
1,302 people were tested. The total number of tested people in the country so far is 46,510 which is 6,644 per one million people.
The active cases are 1.199.
Six new medical professionals tested positive for the virus: a nurse and two healthcare assistants working in Pirogov emergency hospital; a doctor from the Military Medical Academy; a doctor from the city of Sliven and a healthcare assistant from the city of Yambol.
317 Covid-19 patients are in hospitals, 40 of them in intensive care.
Yesterday in the afternoon, a second patient was treated with blood plasma from a coronavirus survivor. He was in serious condition and intubated. Both patients, who were given plasma treatment are in better overall condition at the moment.
