54 new cases of coronavirus reported in Bulgaria, total stands at 1865

Fifty four new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours, thus bringing the total to 1865, the national task force said on May 8. Twenty of the latest cases were hospitalised.

Of the total, 355 patients are in hospitals, 43 of them in intensive care.

The latest cases is Sofia are 28. Ten of them were admitted for treatment in hospitals. Yambol reported 9 new cases, Pleven – 4, Pazardzhik – 3, Blagoevgrad – 3, Varna- 2, Sliven – 2, Plovdiv – 1, Silistra - 1, Stara Zagora – 1.

The new cases among medical professionals are 9, including 5 doctors, 1 paramedic and 1 physiotherapist.

401 patients diagnosed with Covid-19 have recovered, with the most recent being 17.

There is no fatality in the past 24 hours.

Internationally, the epidemiological situation shows about 3,900,000 cases so far, with an increase of 96,262 for the last 24 hours. The deaths increased by 5,589 and reached 270,720.

The largest number of newly confirmed cases is in the United States - 29,531; Russia - 11,231 and the United Kingdom - 5,614.

There are about 2,000 new cases in Turkey, 392 in Romania, 57 in Serbia, 10 and 6 new cases each in Albania and Croatia, respectively.
