A replica of an ancient Thracian ship is being built on the Koprinka dam near Kazanlak, a city in central Bulgaria. It will be named “Odrys” and is expected to be one of the greatest attractions in the Valley of the Thracian Kings. The idea is of the head of the project "Archeosviat - on the way of the great ones" Atanas Dimitrov.
The sailboat, an exact replica of the ancient Thracian ships, will be 19 meters long, made of more than 300 elements, and the bronze-made bird, for whose image is used the decoration of the helmet of Seuthes III, will be placed on the bow of the ship.
The idea is for the canvas to be woven by hand from natural linen and cotton, grown by odrysians. Many ancient artifacts have been explored during the preparation of the project.
It is expected that the ship “Odrys” will be released in the waters of Koprinka dam by the end of August. At the bottom of the dam are the remains of the former capital of the Thracians Seuthopolis.
