The regional Prosecutor’s office in the Southern Bulgarian city of Haskovo launched a check into two women from the village of Bryagovo, who are infected with coronavirus, the Prosecutor’s office said on May 6.
They arrived from the Netherlands with a flight on May 1 and initially said they travelled by taxi from Sofia airport to Haskovo. After unsuccessful attempts to find the taxi driver who allegedly gave them a lift, it transpired the two women lied. They actually travelled on a bus from Sofia to Haskovo and then by taxi to the village of Bryagovo.
The authorities are searching for all passengers, who were on the bus.

On May 1, two women from the village of Bryahovo who were positive for Covid-19 arrived at Sofia airport on a flight from the Netherlands. The two women tested positive while they were in the Netherlands, but according to their explanations they had to wait too long for examination in hospitals there and therefore decided to return to Bulgaria for treatment. There were 54 other passengers on the flight with which they arrived to Bulgaria.
Two other people, a family, a man and a woman, from another flight from the Netherlands on the same day (May 1), tested positive for coronavirus after quick tests done at Sofia airport. The two were admitted for treatment in a hospital in Sofia. A total of 118 passengers travelled on that flight.
Bulgaria’s chief health inspector, dr. Kunchev at that time said that all passengers from the flights were identified and will be tested.
