Auto and bus carriers on 4th of July staged a protest in Sofia and in 10 other cities in the country with a demand to return the withdrawn draft law on establishing an automobile chamber. Last week, other representatives of the industry opposed the project and prepared a protest in Sofia, but after a meeting with the prime minister they postponed their protest and the draft was withdrawn by the National Assembly.
More than 80 buses and 120lorries have been protesting to demand a return of the draft law on the automobile chamber. The buses are in Alexander Nevski Square and the TIR lorries are parked all along Tsarigradsko shose boulevard on both sides.
This protest is to support the unification of the sector through the Law on the Bulgarian Automobile Chamber. This is not a protest against the cabinet of Boyko Borissov, one of the organizers Ilian Filipov said.
This Chamber will create the same rules for all, it will neither issue nor withdraw licenses. We will also ask for a meeting with the prime minister to present our point of view, BASAT (Bulgarian Association of Road Transport Unions) chairman, Mirolyub Stolarski, explained.
