Palm tree with bananas became an attraction in the village of Barakovo in Kyustendil. Can bananas grow in Bulgaria?

The first palm tree in the family of Katya and Georgi Hristovi was planted 6 years ago. Their son brought the tree from Pomorie, a town and seaside resort in southeastern Bulgaria. Almost a joke, they began to care for the tropical plant. Only this year, however, the tree has grown fruits.

Everyone in the village likes and wants to see the banana tree. The owner of the plant doesn’t refuse to give seedlings of it to his neighbors.

Apart from bananas in the garden of the Hristovi family, there are also lemons. The family tells that they grow the trees with much love and the plants pay back with their beauty and fruits.
