Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the President of the European Council Donald Tusk discussed the expectations from the EU-Turkey leaders’ meeting, the government's press office said on 26th of March. In a conversation ahead of today’s working dinner, they both stressed the importance of the meeting with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
As I have said many times, it is important for Bulgaria to have good relations with its neighbour. Good relations are also important for the EU because of the management of the migratory flow, which has created many problems for the Union in the recent years, the Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out.
Borissov stressed that Bulgaria is interested in normalising the dialogue between Ankara and Brussels and will try to contribute to achieving a settlement that solves rather than creates problems.
Your idea for this meeting as an opportunity to re-establish dialogue with Turkey is great and is highly appreciated by all with whom I have discussed the topic, Council President Donald Tusk told PM Borissov.
He pointed out that many issues have been accumulated, they need to be discussed and the best way to solve them is through dialogue.
