The leaders of Visegrád Four and Chairwoman of BSP Kornelia Ninova met in Bratislava with Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner of the Energy Union, the BSP press office announced. They discussed Europe's energy security.

"I have acquainted my colleagues with the Belene NPP (nuclear power plant) project. I have expressed our position on the need to build the nuclear power plant," Ninova said after the meeting. The Chairwoman of the left opposition in Bulgaria explained that she had presented arguments about the importance of the project for Bulgaria, the region and the European Union.
"I have stated that we will support the Bulgarian government to build the power plant. The Belene project is important for Bulgaria and EU. Mr. Šefčovič considers that the Bulgarian government should prepare economic and financial justification of the project and present it to the Commission. I have informed colleagues that the BSP deputees in Bulgarian parliament have submitted a proposal to cancel the moratorium on the NPP construction - as a first step to restart the entire process”, Ninova said.
The report by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences on the Belene project was also discussed at the meeting.
