The public gas supplier “Bulgargaz” proposes a record increase by 58% in the price of natural gas in April. The argument is that because of the war in Ukraine, the blue fuel has become more expensive on the European markets.
If the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission approves the proposal, the price per megawatt-hour should increase from the current almost 114 to almost 180 BGN, excluding taxes and levies.
At the end of last week, “Bulgargaz” announced its forecast for May, which foresaw a 39% spike from current levels.
With a similar rise in natural gas prices, the pricing regulation will also include changes in the prices of electricity and heating, the moratorium on the prices of which expires on March 31.
The regulator will make the final decision on electricity and heating prices for households on April 1.
