Bulgaria’s Health Minister issues tougher measures against Covid-19 spread

In relation to the complicating epidemic situation related to the spread of the new coronavirus and the introduction of the state of emergency, Bulgaria’s Health Minister issued new tougher restrictions as a COVID-19 precaution which are valid until March 29.

All visits to entertainment establishments, including bars and night clubs will be banned as well be visits to eateries, retail outlets and shopping centres except for food stores, pharmacies and drug stores.

Schools, universities and other educational establishments and organizations will cancel classes. Distance learning will replace regular classes where possible.

Kindergartens and nurseries will be closed, as well as all forms of group work with children.

All gatherings of people, including sport, cultural and other events are banned. Cinemas, theatres, opera houses, museums, conferences, workshops, sports and spa-centres, gyms, etc., will be closed.

All employers, depending on the type and possibilitieis of the work, are required to do their best to introduce work from home. Where that is impossible, they should organiser tighter hygiene measures in the work spaces.

Planned surgical operations, including organ transplants, immunisations, scheduled and non-urgent medical consultations for children and pregnant women have been suspended.]

Visiting patients in hospitals will not be allowed.

The duration and scope of the measures may be adjusted depending on the epidemiological situation in the country.
