Clean up of the bed of Hadzhiska river in underway. Last year, there were alerts that the water was polluted. On 15th of May, the Minister of Tourism, Nikolina Angelkova, inspected the cleanliness of the beaches and sea water on the South Black Sea coast.

Hadzhiiska River runs through the territories of several municipalities, through Sunny Beach resort and flows into the southern part of the beach of Sunny Beach. Following the alerts for pollution and bad water indicators and the instructions made by the eco-inspection, for the second month, the river bed has been in process of cleaning.

The cleaning activities which are scheduled to be completed by the end of May, have been effective and the condition of the river is significantly better, even excellent, I would say here at the mouth, Nikolina Angelkova, Minister of Tourism, said.

We hope that this summer season, we will not have the problems associated with the unpleasant smells and which we reported to us.

The eco-inspectors daily control the cleaning and take samples both from the river and the seawater in the area of the river mouth.

Tonka Atanasova, Director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water – Bourgas said that the samples taken by the Regional Health Inspectors show that the quality of the water is excellent for bathing.

Later today, the inspectors will check the condition of the purification stations in Ravda and Bourgas, as well as the preparedness of the beaches for the start of the active summer season.
