Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv, joined the "Blue Heart" initiative, dedicated to the International Day for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings. On this occasion, the water in the emblematic fountain with the pelicans in front of the Municipality flowed in blue colour, a symbol of the campaign.
Volunteers from the Bulgarian Red Cross and the Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings distributed information materials. On social networks, a campaign framework is uploaded, which everyone can put on their account. According to data from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office in 2017, the victims of trafficking in Bulgaria are 518. Of these, 444 are women and 64 are men.
