Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Kiril Petkov on January 28 met with the ambassadors of the European Union member states. The initiative for the meeting came from the top French diplomat, Florence Robin, whose country holds the presidency of the European Union.

Among the topics of the meeting were the fight against corruption and the reform of the Bulgarian judicial system, as well as tensions on the Ukrainian border.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister stressed that diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions should continue. At the same time, however, there should be preparedness for the development of adverse scenarios.

He also informed the diplomats about the new dynamics of relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia. He briefed them on the results of recent meetings and said he relied on the support of the European family.

This was the Prime Minister's first meeting with European ambassadors, and the intention is to hold these talks regularly.
