Bulgaria is one of the most loyal members of NATO and its Euro-Atlantic route is a strategic task, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on 4th of May at a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General, Rose Gottemoeller.

The prime minister said that Bulgaria modernizes its army and called for Macedonia to join the alliance. According to Gottemoeller, Bulgaria has made an outstanding contribution to the Alliance's overall operations and praised the Bulgarian military.

Rose Gottemoeller, NATO Deputy Secretary General: "We are here to support even closer cooperation within NATO with a valuable partner like Bulgaria, which has proven itself as such within our joint operations. I will honour you for your participation in Kosovo and Afghanistan. I would also like to praise your Armed Forces, especially in view of the forthcoming celebrations of the Day of St. George the Victorious and the Bulgarian Army - May 6th. We would like to emphasise our respect and appreciation for their actions and the admiration we have for men and women in the ranks of the Bulgarian Armed Forces," she said.
