bulgaria ascending consultations president government coalition agreement needed

Bulgaria needs a government that will be supported by political parties and based on a clear coalition agreement, Stefan Yanev, the leader of "Bulgaria Ascending”, said at consultations with President Rumen Radev on November 28. According to him, it does not matter whether we call this government expert or not, as long as it is clear who is politically responsible for it.

The party is ready to have a dialogue with all political forces in the 48th National Assembly. That is why Yanev called on all parties to nominate contact groups and to prepare their own priorities, which could possibly be included in a coalition agreement.

President Radev holds consultations with the representatives of the parliamentary groups in the newly elected 48th Parliament as a step before he hands over a mandate to seek to form a government.

Today, the head of state is meeting with the seventh largest parliamentary group, “Bulgaria Ascending”.

"It has been a month since the consultations began. I have given enough time to the parties to come out of the confrontational rhetoric of the elections and find consensus on drafting the laws, but I do not see any result in this direction. On the contrary, instead of engaging in the formation of a government, instead of dealing with the issues that directly concern the Bulgarian people, with the laws related to the Recovery and Resilience Plan and with the replenishment of the expired bodies, the National Assembly has decided to deal with the Electoral Code. Whether this is the main priority of our society, as well as the 4-hour dispute over the name of the law, I deeply doubt," the President pointed out.

Stefan Yanev, leader of “Bulgaria Ascending”, agreed with the head of state that the debate on the changes to the Electoral Code was not of immediate necessity.

"For us, the talks and the efforts to form a cabinet are fundamental, because if the Parliament copes with this task, there will be enough time for the Electoral Code, the Recovery and Resilience Plan, and other fundamental issues," Yanev said.

As the main priority of “Bulgaria Ascending” PG, Yanev highlighted the solution of problems in people's daily lives and predictability. That is why, according to him, the most important thing is to form a majority to support a cabinet.

"Because, repeating the pre-election rhetoric and suggesting that early elections will solve some problems - yes, they will solve narrow-party problems, not the problems of Bulgarian citizens," he pointed out.

According to Yanev, there are already conditions for a political dialogue that will ensure a majority for the formation of a cabinet and to settle the priority solutions to the accumulated crises, as well as the prospect for Bulgaria in the coming months and years - the accession to Schengen and the euro zone.

"And as imperfect as it is and as much as it doesn't provide clear solutions yet, I think there is hope for this dialogue to deliver," he said.

As part of the government-forming consultations, so far the President held meetings with the leaderships of the parliamentary groups of GERB-UDF, "We Continue the Change", Movement for Rights and Freedoms,"Vazrazhdane", Bulgarian Socialist Party and “Democratic Bulgaria”.
