Bulgaria marks the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On January 27, 1945, the Red Army liberated the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
20 survivors of the camp and other guests took part in the commemoration ceremony. Statements by politicians were not envisaged. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the number of participants in the event was limited.
The organizer is the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial near the Polish city of Auschwitz. Between one and a half and two million people of various nationalities have died in the concentration camp.
