Bulgaria will host the 7th summit of the Heads of State and Governments of the countries from Central and Eastern Europe and China in 2018. This was agreed in Budapest during the summit of Central European Initiative and China on 27th of November, the press office of the Council of Ministers said.
Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov thanked China’s Prime Minister Li Keqiang; Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his other counterparts for the support given to Bulgaria to host the next summit of the 16+1 initiative.
He said he would count on China for infrastructure projects. He added that Viktor Orban and him discussed many topics including cohesion policy and Eastern European partnership. Borissov also pointed out that 2018 is a very important year for the country with a view of the first Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU.
"The high degree of mobilization and motivation of the government stemming from the organisation of the presidency will also contribute to prepare and successfully host the 7th China-CEEC (16+1) Summit in Sofia," Borissov said.
He recalled that in 2018 Bulgaria will host another key event within the "16 + 1" format - the meeting of local government leaders in Plovdiv.
