An informal meeting of the EU Environment Ministers is held in the National Palace of Culture in Sofia on 10th of April. In the first session, the participants discussed possibilities to improve air quality.
At the beginning of the discussion, Bulgarian Environment Minister Neno Dimov stressed that the time has now come to move from vision and ambitions to real actions and results to improve air quality.
An agreement in the field of environment was signed for the new programming period under the financial mechanism of the European Economic Area between Bulgaria and the donor countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway within the informal council.
Minister Neno Dimov pointed out that this document is an expression of trust between the donor countries and the Bulgarian ministry of environment.
The new programme "Environment for Climate Change" aims, through the provided financial resource of BGN 30.5 million, to fulfill measures for implementation of important policies in the field of waste management and climate changes. At the same time, a natural build-upon the results in the field of ecosystem services and management of marine waters will be achieved. It can be said that the financial mechanism of the European Economic Area affirmed its position of a major financial instrument supporting the main policy in the area of waters, Neno Dimov said.
