A mobile team from Saint Anna Regional Hospital in Sofia has carried out a successful mission to save the life of a 14-year-old boy from Moldova who suffered serious injuries after falling into a swimming pool in a hotel near Varna. As a result of the incident, the child had a broken second and third cervical vertebra, brain edema, severe inflammation of the lungs and broken ribs.
The parents wished the boy to be transported urgently to Republican Children's Neurochirurgical Clinic "Mother and Child" in Chisinau. They have chosen a team to sustain his life during the whole flight from Sofia to the capital of Moldova.
The life-saving mission was conducted by Dr. Ivan Zhelyovov and Dr. Veselin Velchev - resuscitation-anesthetists from the University Hospital "St.Anna", Sofia.
