The Bulgarian firefighters who participated in the rescue operations after the flooding in Macedonia returned home on 11th of August.
A team of 12 firefighters from the chief directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of Population” were sent to Skopje to assists in the flood response operations.
The Bulgarian team took part in pumping water from the flooded houses and searching for missing people.
In the first days after the flooding, Bulgaria helped Macedonia by delivering over 22 tonnes of mineral water as humanitarian aid. The use of tap water was banned for drinking and cooking in Skopje in the days after the flooding because of the risk of infectious diseases.
Meanwhile, the situation in the most affected area of the Macedonian capital is getting back to normal.
