Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with his Palestinian counterpart Rami Hamdallah in Ramallah on 14th of June. PM Borissov stressed that Bulgaria has friendly relations with Israel as well as with Palestine. Bulgaria supports all initiatives that would lead to a positive development of the Middle East peace process, the prime minister also said.
In his words, all controversial issues must be resolved through direct negotiations between the two countries. Borissov reminded that Bulgaria was interested in establishing lasting peace and understanding in the region and that the Bulgarian-Palestinian relations were traditionally good and we will work for their development. According to him, more than 5,000 Palestinian citizens who have graduated their education in Bulgaria can be a bridge for that.
Rami Hamdalla pointed out that his country is reaching out for peace, but is not always seen. Gaza has taken hundreds of thousands of wounded, dead, endlessly destroyed homes - let the world now pay attention to it, he said.
Hamdallah has asked Borissov to intervene in the EU talks, which in his words were going slowly.
