A graduate of the High School of Mathematics in Plovdiv was ranked in the top five in the world in terms of projects distinguished by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. For the seventh time, the university is ranked first in the world of mathematics.
The project of the Bulgarian student Dimitar Chakarov was selected among the ones of 80 other students from the USA and 30 other countries.
In the United States, within 10 days, Dimitar managed to get familiar with 30 articles and 4 university textbooks. Thus, his own conclusions come to the hypothesis of primitive roots.
Dimitar discovered his passion for mathematics when he was in fourth grade. His dream now is to find a solution to one of the seven outstanding problems of the millennium - Riemann's hypothesis.
He says that it is such a deep problem that there are mathematicians who say: "we don't even know if it can be proven. It works with such fundamental objects that no one knows exactly what to do with it, he added.
Veselina Karapeeva, the Head of the Mathemathics School in Plovdiv says that Dimitar makes the school proud. He manages to convey this motivation and ambition to his classmates. And to the younger children.
It is everyone's hope that one day, talented and intelligent, top-performing children like Dimitar will return to their home country Bulgaria He will be going to study in America in a few months.
