Bulgarian woman injured in fires in Greece

According to information from the Bulgarian embassy in Athens, a Bulgarian citizen was injured as a result of the fires in the area of the Greek capital. She is hospitalized with burns, but they are not life-threatening. Our diplomatic mission is in contact with family members of the Bulgarian woman and is ready to provide assistance as necessary.

According to information from the Embassy in Athens, on 23^rd of July large fires broke out in the area of Kinetta, Attica, in the area of Metochi, near Chania on the island of Crete, the region of Penteli, Athens and in the region of Rafina, Attica.

Most of the victims are found in the area of Nea Makri, the places Mati, Kokkino Limanaki, Rafina.

By 11:00 most of the fire outbreaks have been brought under control. On-site teams of fire fighting service continue to work to cope with the aftermath and to suppress secondary outbreaks.

Traffic on the road section Athens - Corinth is gradually recovering. Part of the national road of Chania-Rethymnon, island Crete, remains closed for traffic.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Bulgarian nationals living on the territory of Greece to strictly follow the instructions of local authorities and not to take action that could endanger their safety.
