The National Assembly will hold an extraordinary sitting today, 21st of August, at 13:00 to hear Prime Minister Boyko Borissov about the problems with the Commercial Register and to discuss the case of bankruptcy of the Cypriot insurance company "Olympic". The sitting is held following a motion filed by the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party.
Two weeks earlier, the summer vacation of the MPs was suspended. The first working day was scheduled to be on 4th of September, but because of the extraordinary circumstances, the Socialist party demanded an extraordinary sitting.
The required forum for holding the sitting is 121 MPs.
Thebankruptcy of the Cyprus-registered insurance company Olympic left some 200,000 Bulgarians holding compulsory third party liability insurance from it without coverage and in need of signing new insurance contracts.
There was a crash in the Commercial Register system for several days from 10th of August due to a technical
malfunction. Partial operation was restored on 15th of August.
