The head of the task force, Major-General, Prof. Dr. Ventistlav Mutafchiiski did not attend today's briefing. According to the information of the Government press service, he was in a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, where they discussed topical issues and possible relaxation of the anti-epidemic measures.
The end of the task force briefings was announced by the government press service, without the presence of the three main members and on the grounds that the Bulgarian society is already sufficiently informed on the topic of the coronavirus.
They explained the decision for the discontinuing of the daily briefings with the conviction that the Bulgarian society is informed enough about all coronavirus-related details, and with the rising criticism that the briefings do more harm than good. The latest COVID-19 information about Bulgaria and the world will now be presented to the public in the form of messages from the task force secretary.
Major-General Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, Head of the National Coronavirus Task Force: We show full understanding to our fellow citizens that we may be have boring to them. And as we know there is a saying that the messengers of bad news usually get shot.
The assessment of the past months is yet to be made. We are still up the curve in the battle with the virus and many difficult decisions are ahead.
It is clear for the time being that there will be no briefing tomorrow morning. All questions to the task force will be asked via email.
