Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Maryana Nikolova, on September 21 held a working meeting with H.E. Sultan Rashid Sultan Al Kaitoob Al Nuaimi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates.

During the talks, Minister Nikolova, said that Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates traditionally have very good bilateral relations and there is a huge potential for increasing the levels of mutual tourist flow - a goal for which both countries should work together.

The Ministry of Tourism is making every effort to keep Bulgaria a safe and secure destination for tourism during the winter season, so that we can welcome tourists and business partners from the UAE, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

The experts of the ministry monitor the observance of the anti-epidemic measures, which are a guarantee for the safety and health of the guests. We exercise extremely strict control over the implementation of all requirements in the places for accommodation, meals and entertainment, the Minister explained.

She assured Mr. Al Nuaimi that in the recent months the Ministry of Tourism has been working as a priority to remove travel restrictions between the two countries. In this regard, from August 11, 2020, UAE citizens can visit Bulgaria without being required to present a negative PCR test or mandatory 14-day quarantine.

The resumption of travel between our two countries is of great importance not only for tourist visits, but also for business relations, said Minister Nikolova.

Mr. Sultan Rashid Sultan Al Kaitoob Al Nuaimi thanked for the warm welcome. He noted that the good relations between the two countries are evidence of the development in many areas such as economy, culture, tourism and others.

Bulgaria has very good conditions for tourism and wonderful places to visit, the ambassador said. He added that the UAE government is extremely grateful to Bulgaria for including the country in the list of countries for which there was no requirement for quarantine.

The two also discussed the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of tourism with the UAE Ministry of Economy.
