Bulgaria’s Parliament will hold an extraordinary sitting on May 12 to vote on the second reading of the Health Act, the Speaker of the Parliament, Tsveta Karayancheva said on May 8.
The regular sittings begin on May 14.
Today, the MPs passed at first reading a bill proposed by the government to amend the Health Act which empowered the Health Minister to introduce epidemic-control measures after the lifting of the coronavirus state of emergency on May 13. Such measures may be proposed by the Chief State Health Inspector and the directors of the regional health inspectorates.
The amendments enable the Minister of Health to introduce “emergency epidemiological situation”, as well as extended timeframe for many of the measures already introduced.
