Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 22nd of May met with US Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, who is on a visit to Sofia.
PM Borissov raised the matter of Zhelyaz Andreev and the other four Bulgarians for whom the USA have submitted an extradition request. He said that Bulgaria does not question its 2008 extradition agreement with the USA but that Bulgarian institutions will continue to work actively on solving the case and protecting the rights of Bulgarian citizens.
The focus of the talks was on the commitment the two countries share in the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking and cybersecurity. The meeting was attended by Bulgaria’s Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva and Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov.
