On 5th of July, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov convened an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council over the draft anti-terrorism law.
The participants discussed restrictions regarding the rights and freedoms of citizens during conduct of anti-terrorist operations, the obligation of mobile phone operators to provide immediate access to traffic data in case of direct risk of a terrorist act and authorizing powers to the State Agency for National Security to use undercover agents. A plan was proposed for training of the military on response in the event of terrorist attack.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of interior, Minister of Defence, the Foreign Minister, the Minister of Finance, the Head of Defence, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of interior, the Chairpersons of SANS, of the Intelligence Agency, the Head of Military Information, the Head of the National Service for Protection, the Secretary of the Security Council and two representatives of Bulgaria’s President.
After the debates, the draft anticorruption law is expected to be submitted to the Parliament next week.
