On 5th of July in Sarajevo, Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov was presented with the award "Golden Plaque - European Personality of the Year". The ceremony took place during the Balkan Business Forum. The award was given by the Agency for the Selection and Presentation of Heads of Mission from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Central and Southeast Europe.

The Prime Minister received the award for his personal commitment to the development of economic cooperation in the region. Previously, he also met with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Council of Ministers' chairman, Denis Zvizdić.

Motorways, railroads, ports, digital infrastructure and ethnic tolerance are the five foundations for the development of the Balkan business. And only if there is peace in the region, investments will be guaranteed, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said before the participants in the forum after the award ceremony.

He also spoke about discussions in Thessaloniki with colleagues from Greece, Serbia and Romania, about the connectivity of the Western Balkans and the creation of a transport ring on land and water. He explained that in fact all traffic from Asia and Africa will pass through the new river and sea ports, railways and motorways.

The parallel construction of modern digital infrastructure and the reduction of roaming charges will further stimulate the economy, Boyko Borissov pointed out. Earlier in the meetingwith his couterpart, Denis Zvizdić, the Bulgarian PM said that Austria will continue the idea of the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, but they have to overcome their differences.

Boyko Borisov gave as an example the agreeemnts signed between Sofia and Skopje last year and Skopje and Athens a month ago.

Boyko Borisov, Prime Minister: Why Bosnia and Herzegovina should learn and take an example - to find a solution to its internal conflicts. Neither for Bulgaria, nor for Greece, nor for the Republic of Macedonia, these were easy decisions, but that gave a perspective.

Denis Zvizdić, President of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina: I would like to especially thank for all that Bulgaria has done for us in the past 20 years and especially in the recent 6 months, the Bulgarian Presidency helped so that the focus on the region was put on an important place on the European agenda. This is exceprionally important to us because the European perspective and the improvement of our citizens' standard of living remain our top priority, he said.

Denis Zvizdić did not conceal his concern over the political situation in his country and said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will officially apply for EU membership after the forthcoming elections in October, and that a roadmap for NATO is expected.
