Bulgaria’s President met with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev on June 17 met with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides.

The COVID-19 crisis has put our health and social systems to a great test.

After the initial shock and some solidarity problems, the European institutions reacted quickly and we are glad that they have taken responsibility for the supply of vaccines. Although in our country, as in all countries, the number of deaths and infected people is singificantly decreasing, we are currently doing an in-depth analysis on the causes of high mortality and how the crisis was managed, Bulgaria’s head of state said at the beginning of the talks.

During her visit to Bulgaria, Stella Kyriakides and the caretaker Minister of Health, Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, will visit a mobile immunization centre on Alexander Batenberg Square in Sofia, and then will meet with the vaccination teams of the University Hospital. "St. Anne"

The topics of today's talks include the EU strategy for vaccines and the deployment of the national campaign for immunization against COVID-19 in Bulgaria, as well as future actions on the proposals within the European Health Union.
