Presidents of Bulgaria and Russia Rumen Radev and Vladimir Putin will meet today, 22nd of May, at 13.00 at the Bocharov Ruchei Residence in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. Rumen Radev's meeting with Vladimir Putin is after nearly a 10-year break in relations at such level.
Rumen Radev described his visit to Russia as a breakthrough in bilateral relations. Presidents will discuss the development of bilateral ties in the economy, energy, education and culture.
After the meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Rumen Radev called for work to be carried out for direct gas supplies from Russia to Bulgaria through the Black Sea. He said that the future restart of Belene Nuclear Power Plant Project could not be carried out without Russian participation. These topics are likely to be discussed in today's talks. It is also expected to find out whether and when Vladimir Putin will visit Bulgraia in response to the invitation by President Rumen Radev.
