The British Ambassador to Bulgaria, Emma Hopkin, and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov discussed the cooperation between the special services of the two countries, including in the period after Brexit. The meeting took place on 2nd of May in the Council of Ministers in Sofia. It was attended by the heads of the special services.
The prime minister explained how Bulgaria safeguards the Bulgarian-Turkish border and how it disrupts rings for cigarette-smuggling and trafficking of sensitive goods.
The occasion for the meeting was a successful joint operation in Ireland against a factory producing illegal cigarettes.
