The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Burgas has accused the deputy chairman of the Municipal Council in Burgas Bencho Benchev for helping Dimitar Zhelyazkov, known as Mityo-Ochite, to escape prosecution and for keeping ammunition without permission. Benchev was imposed a monetary guarantee of 50,000 BGN and was banned to leave the country, the prosecutor’s office announced on 14th of August.
Benchev entered the investigation office at 9 o'clock, accompanied by his lawyer. He was charged of concealment and possession of firearms and ammunition without permission.
According to Benchev's lawyer Ivo Naydenov, the allegation for the weapon was absurd because all the weapons and ammunition were completely legal. The documents they have provided to the Prosecution Office proved it. He also disagrees with the 50,000 BGN guarantee.
The charge is to be submitted in courtand scheduled for the first hearing.
