A bus with 43 Bulgarian passengers on board overturned near the town of Kriva Palanka in Macedonia. The accident occurred around 23:00 on 2nd of February.
Five of the passengers suffered serious injuries, including broken collarbone, ribs, arm and vertebrae of the spine. Only one of the passengers has suffered a fracture that required surgical treatment. The other 21 passengers were slightly injured, with bruises on the arms and legs and were released for home treatment. The Bulgarian Consul in Macedonia paid a visit to the injured people.
The passengers were Bulgarian teachers from the National High School in Finance and Business in Sofia, returning from a seminar in Ochrid, Vera Marinova, a wife of one of the passengers told BNT. She explained that the group departed to Bulgaria around lunch time on 2nd of February and an hour and a half later the bus broke down.
After waiting for 7 hours on the motorway, 4 km away from Skopje, the passengers were transferred to another bus. They explained that the journey was going well until shortly before the border, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle, it overturned and fell into a ravine.
She said that several men on the bus helped to pull out other passengers.
All waited for a prosecutor to arrive at the crash site to conduct an inspection.
The passengers were transferred to a third bus.
The trip was organised by "Geografski Svyat" tour company, which hired a transportaion company "Megatrans" from Dupnitsa, Bulgaria.
