Coronavirus in Bulgaria: 179 new cases, total is at 16,954

The newly confirmed coronavirus cases in Bulgaria are 179 out of 8129 PCR tests, data published on the National Information Portal on September 5 shows.

The largest number of newly confirmed cases was reported in the following districts: Sofia - 45; Blagoevgrad - 29; Plovdiv – 18; Varna – 14; Stara Zagora – 11.

The total lab-confirmed cases in the country since the start of the epidemic is 16,954.

The active cases are 4243.

Of the total, 763 are in hospitals, 56 of them being in intensive care.

Seven Covid-19 associated deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. The total of fatalities rose to 665.

The recoveries over the past 24 hours are 111.The total recoveries are 12,046.

The total number of medical professionals who tested positive for the virus is 935, including 12 new over the past 24 hours.
