Thirty seven new cases of coronavirus were confirmed over the past 24 hours in Bulgaria, thus bringing the total to 2174, the Head of the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, prof. Kantardzhiev announced at the daily morning briefing on May 16.

1161 RTPCR tests were conducted. Two per 1000 Bulgarians were tested for a week.

64 480 tests were conducted since the start of the epidemic.

The increase is by 1.7%.

The active cases are 1497.

The latest cases include 23 in Sofia, where the total number now stands at 921.

Three new cases were reported in Pazardzhik, 2 in Blagoevgrad, 2 in Vidin, 2 in Pleven, 1 in Kyustendil, 1 in Plovdiv, 1 in Sliven, 1 in Smolyan, 1 in Yambol.

Mass testing began at nursing homes across the country.

The cases of children under the age of 18 are 131, including 73 under the age of 11. In Sofia, the children who tested positive for the coronavirus are between 1 and 16 years old.

The medical professionals infected with the virus are 233.

573 patients have recovered.

Three people diagnosed with Covid-19 died over the past 24 hours: a 76 year old woman in Sofia, who also had COPD, a 67 year old man in Yambol, who also had high blood pressure, and another 76 year old man in Yambol with heart disease. .
