Coronavirus in Bulgaria: 4,816 new cases from more than 47,000 tests

The newly confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours are 4,816 from 47,370 tests, the daily report on the National Information Portal shows on October 22.

There is an increase in vaccination rate in the country and a record number of tests for coronavirus for the past day.

Of the total 47, 370 tests, 9,076 were PCR and 38,294 rapid antigen.

2,971 cases were confirmed from PCR and 2,025 from rapid antigent test.

The increase in the number of tests is due to the requirement for a negative test result for access to many indoor activities if people do not have certificate of vaccination or certificate of recovery.

The positivity rate is a little over 10%.

The largest number of Covid-19 cases was reported in Sofia (1,477), followed by Plovdiv (441). The lowest number of new cases was registered in Kardhzli (29).

The total lab-confirmed positive cases in the country since the start of the epidemic are 559,893.

The active cases are 72,022.

Of the total, 6,608 patients are in hospitals, 590 of them being in intensive care.

During the past 24 hours:

· 1,450 recoveries, bringing the total to date to 465,032

· 28,191 administered doses of Covid-19 vaccines, bringing the total to date to 2,685,512

· 120 Covid-19 related deaths, thus the death toll to date is 22,839

Of the daily cases, 87.58% had not been vaccinated.

Of those who died, 92.50% had not been vaccinated.

There were 814 new hospitalisations, of which 89.93% had not been vaccinated.

*Those considered to be vaccinated had completed the course of vaccination with 2 shots.
