Coronavirus infection rate in Bulgaria is 2-3 times higher than in previous days

Coronavirus infection rate is 2-3 times higher in comparison with the previous days. So far, the infection in Bulgaria has not spread beyond the established outbreaks.

Major General Prof. Dr. Ventsislav Mutafchiiski, Head of the National Task Force against coronavirus, said on May 7 that the healthcare system can still cope with this growing number of cases, but the relaxing of the anti-epidemic measures places exceptional demands on the members of the public, who should behave responsibly and wear masks.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Angel Kunchev, chief state health inspector, said that there was no way the inspecting authorities to be present everywhere, in 72 thousand sites. So again, we urge people to show responsible behaviour, think about their health and not to expect someone by force to impose compliance with the measures, he said.

Social care homes are among the latest outbreaks of coronavirus. Therefore the staff in the care homes and all residents in them will be tested, he added.

The flights with infected people on board also have their impact on the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Bulgaria. One recent example concerns passengers from the Netherlands.
