Out of 81 samples tested at the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD), 22 were identified as being the Delta variant. They were taken from Covid-19 patients in the period May 31 - June 30 from 19 medical establishments in 18 districts.
Alpha (UK variant) was detected in 57 of the sequenced samples, Delta (Indian variant) was detected in 22, and a variant which is under monitoring was detected in 2 of the tested samples, according to the National Centre for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.
The largest number of cases with the Delta variant were registered in Sofia-city - 6. Followed by Bourgas and Sofia-district with 5 cases in each, Blagoevgrad – 3, Varna and Rousse with 1 each.
