Efforts are continuing to make vaccination against Covid-19 more accessible to those who want to get a jab. A bus has become a mobile vaccination station and will go around the capital city of Sofia from tomorrow, June 16.

Its first stop will be on Alexander I Square.

The bus was donated to the Sofia Health Inspectorate by the “Charity and Mercy” Foundation.

The bus is equipped with everything necessary for the mandatory examination before immunization. Two teams will be able to work in it at the same time.

"There are absolutely all types of vaccines in the refrigerator with an emergency cabinet. It is very important to say that even now - a certificate can be automatically issued for people who have been vaccinated with a second shot or a single-dose vaccine," Dr. Dancho Penchev, Director of Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) said.

Tomorrow the bus will be deployed in the centre of Sofia. On weekends it will park next to the airport's first terminal. It will work every day from 9.00 to 18.00.

RHI reports that currently in Sofia there is a slight decrease in those wishing to be vaccinated.

"Compared to other districts i Bulgaria, the capital is significantly ahead, as a percentage of the number of vaccinated with the first and second dose. But there is still more to be done," added Dr. Penchev.

Sofia Municipality is preparing a campaign for immunization against coronavirus. They are negotiating for opening of vaccination points in large shopping centres.

"Having agreed with our teams and of course with the support of Sofia RHI, we will be able to open vaccination units in two of the shopping malls this Saturday. If others want to join, of course, this would also be a good opportunity for people, shopping or walking, to get their jab, "said Yordanka Fandakova, mayor of Sofia Municipality.

The Mayor reported that about 4,000 people have been vaccinated at the immunization points that wee opened in the parks.

The chairman of the foundation, which donated a mobile station, was the first to get a jab against Covid-19 in the vaccination clinic on wheels.

"We call on all people who are hesitant to get vaccinated so that this third wave of Covid-19 can be the last," said Nikolay Bozhilov, chairman of the “Charity and Mercy” Foundation.

The RHI reminded that if the number of vaccinated in our country is small, in the autumn the incidence may increase again.
