Because of the outbreak of African swine fever in Romania, all vehicles entering Bulgaria through Silistra-Calarasi broder checkpoint are subject to disinfection as of 13th of July.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the District Epizootic Commission in the Danubian town of Silistra.
Apother measure includes the confiscation of food products of animal origin imported by tourists or lorry drivers.
The danger for pig farmers in Silistra is real, as more than 300 outbreaks are recorded in the Romanian town of Tulcea. Experts say there is no danger to humans.
