Eleven new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Bulgaria on March 18, thus bringing the total to 92, the head of the coronavirus task force, Prof Mutafchiyski said at the daily 5 pm update briefing.
One of the patients is from Veliko Turnovo and another one is from Smolyan. He came back from the UK. The rest are all in Sofia. No new cases were reported in Bansko ski resort today.
Prof. Mutafchiyski said that people arriving from countries with high rate of Covid-19 cases are quarantined at home. During the quarantine if there are symptoms, the people should call their GPs on the phone. The GPs do not meet such patients. The GP decides whether the person should be sent to hospital or not. if the GP decides that the person needs to be hospitalised then he/she calls the emergency or the Regional Health Inspectorate for provision of transportation to the hospital, he added.
Coronavirus tests are done at the hospital. If the result is positive
then the options are several. The first is treatment at home if the condition of the patient is mild to
moderate. Patients are admitted to hospital if the condition is more
severe. In the cases of elderly patients, they are admitted to hospital even if
the condition is moderate.
