The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is on a visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev.
This is Sheikh Al Thani’s first state visit to Bulgaria. In a meeting with President Rumen Radev on 8th of March, he discussed opportunities for developing bilateral relations.
The two also commented on how to deepen the links between investment, business and academic communities. They also discussed future partnerships in the fields of economy, energy, agriculture, transport, trade and tourism.
After the official reception ceremony, Sheikh Al Thani and President Radev had a walking tour in the centre of Sofia.
A business forum with more than 60 representatives of Qatar companies is taking place during the visit. Sheikh Al Thani also met with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
A number of bilateral cooperation documents in the fields of entrepreneurship, education and science, energy, youth and sport will be signed.
