From the end of the year, citizens in the European Union will be able to shop, without barriers, from online shops based in other member states.
The Minister for the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018, Lilyana Pavlova, on 28th of February, signed a regulation in Brussels, together with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, on the ban of the so-called geo-blocking.
The ceremony was also attended by the Bulgarian Commissioner for Digital Economy and Digital Society, Mariya Gabriel.
Geo-blocking is the limitation imposed by online shops based on the customer’s nationality, the place of residence or the place of establishment.
