The biggest multinational exercise of Land Forces in Bulgaria for 2018 is held in Novo Selo. On 8th of August is the official, so-called VIP day. 700 soldiers from Bulgaria, the United States and six other NATO member states and NATO partners with 100 combat units demonstrated their capabilities at the joint Bulgarian-American Polygon. The aim is to increase interaction and interoperability among the allies in peacekeeping operations.
The final part of the military drill ends minutes before 12 noon. "We have accomplished tasks in five main directions," said Brigadier General Valeri Tsolov, Deputy Commander of the Land Forces.
He expressed his satisfaction with the organisation of the exercise, as well as with the actions of the Bulgarian servicemen at all levels.
"We hope that beyond the territory of the country we will show the high class of the Bulgarian Land Forces in the remaining three international drills by the end of the year", added General Tsolov.
Guests of the official VIP day were Deputy Chief of Defense Vice Admiral Emil Eftimov and Commander of Ground Forces Major General Mihail Popov.
This year, for the first time, the planning, preparation and conduct of the military drill were done by the Bulgarian Army.
