A collection of photographs and engravings from Simonopetra Monastery in Athos is presented in Burgas. Such an exhibition is for the first time in Bulgaria. It is part of the exhibition and publishing activity of the “Svetogorska Fototeka”.
More than 50 photographs, lithographs and engravings tell of the secrets of the monastic Republic, which is inaccessible to half of the human race. The wonders of Mount Athos, the monastery buildings, festive processions, holy relics and biblical scenes have been depicted.
The photographs are copies of icons of saints from the monasteries of Athos, graphic pictures of the monasteries and the beautiful scenery that surrounds them, pictures of the events of the life of the monks of Athos.
The opening was also attended by the Bishop of Sliven Yoanikiy. He examined with interest the photographs of the holy elders, many of whom spent several years in Mount Athos. The exhibition will welcome visitors until the end of September.
