During the period January - July 2020, the export of goods from Bulgaria to third countries decreased by 9.4% compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to BGN 10,666.4 million, the National Statistical Institute announced on September 14..

Bulgaria's main trade partners are Turkey, China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Serbia, the Russian Federation and the Republic of North Macedonia, which account for 54.0% of exports to third countries. In July 2020 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries decreased by 18.7% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 1 510.9 Million BGN.

In the period January - July 2020, in the export of goods from Bulgaria to third countries, distributed according to the Standard Foreign Trade Classification, the largest growth compared to the same period in 2019 was observed in the sectors "Animal fats, oils and waxes of plant origin ”(48.5%) and “Food and live animals”(30.0%). The largest decrease was observed in the sector "Mineral fuels, oils and related products" (54.1%).

Imports of goods to Bulgaria from third countries in the period January - July 2020 decreased by 13.3% compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to BGN 12,856.0 million (at CIF prices).

The largest is the value of goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China and Serbia. In July 2020 the imports of goods in Bulgaria from third countries decreased by 17.3% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 1 896.4 Million BGN. In the import of goods from third countries, distributed according to the Standard Foreign Trade Classification, in the period January - July 2020, the largest increase compared to the same period in 2019 was reported in the sectors "Raw materials, unfit for consumption" (excl. fuels) ”(60.7%) and “Fats, oils and waxes of animal and vegetable origin ”(30.0%). The largest decrease was observed in the sector "Mineral fuels, oils and related products" (50.1%).

The foreign trade balance (exports FOB - imports CIF) of Bulgaria with third countries in the period January - July 2020 was negative and amounted to 2 189.6 Million BGN. In July 2020 the foreign trade balance (exports FOB - imports CIF) with third countries was also negative and amounted to 385.5 Million BGN.

During the period January - July 2020, a total of BGN 31,111.3 million worth of goods were exported from Bulgaria, which is 7.5% less than in the same period of 2019. In July 2020 the total exports of goods amounted to 4 785.2 Million BGN and decreased by 10.7% compared to the same month of the previous year.

During the period January - July 2020, a total of BGN 33,249.5 million worth of goods were imported into the country (at CIF prices), or by 12.8% less compared to the same period of 2019. In July 2020 the total imports of goods decreased by 15.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 5 016.7 Million BGN.

The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - imports CIF) was negative in the period January - July 2020 and amounted to 2 138.2 Million BGN. In July 2020 the total foreign trade balance (exports FOB - imports CIF) was also negative and amounted to 231.5 Million BGN.
